I am a 4th year graduate student at the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign in the Neuroscience Program working in the Bonthuis Lab. My research aims to uncover the role of epigenetics in the regulation of social behaviors. Specifically, I am interested in looking at the effects of noncanonical genomic imprinting of genes in the brain monoamine system.
I utilize a variety of tests to assess social behavior in mutant mice. These include assays for social recognition, dominance, aggression, and parental behaviors. I also use sequencing techniques to explore whether there are sex differences in imprinted genes.
In my free time, I enjoy gardening and spending time with my cat, Xena, and dog, Kevin.
